One Academic Year in England

For over 30 years, Ardmore has been helping students from all corners of the world experience and learn English. The program offers an academic year at a British state school within one of the best education systems in the world. Locations can be chosen from all over the UK. It is an affordable alternative to studying at an independent school in the United Kingdom.

Many students use this very year as a "springboard" for their future education in England or at international universities, where fluent English is a requirement and an opportunity to work anywhere in the world.

Age: Suitable for groups and individual students aged 11 to 18.

Program duration: From September to July.

Schools:

Ardmore has chosen the locations of its partner schools with great care in order to provide the highest-quality education and support from local organizers, who offer 24-hour assistance to students. All schools selected by Ardmore are inspected and rated 1 (unsatisfactory), 2 (good) or 3 (satisfactory) by Ofsted, the UK government's Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills.

They are located in smaller towns and suburbs – away from the noise and bustle of big cities, yet offering easy access to the local areas with excellent transport links.

School uniforms and materials:

School placement and textbooks are included in the program. Students are expected to wear the uniform up to sixth form, and Ardmore assists students with purchasing it before arrival.

Requirements:

  • Students must be from the European Economic Area
  • They usually need at least an intermediate level of English (e.g. IELTS 5.5 or similar)
  • All students must complete a detailed application form covering their educational, medical, family and personal history, as well as their academic achievements
  • Ardmore then selects a school according to the students' requirements

Accommodation:

Students will be placed with vetted, carefully selected host families for the duration of one school term, returning home between terms (usually for one week each in February, May and October), as well as for the Easter and Christmas holidays.

The families live close to the schools – a short walk or bus ride away. Half board is provided on weekdays and full board on weekends.

Program prices:

  • Students under 16 - £12,225 per year
  • Students over 16 - £11,860 per year
