University of Worcester

The University of Worcester was founded in 1946 but was granted university status only in 2005. It is ranked 105th in the UK. Worcester is one of the universities that climbed the most places in the rankings of the Research Excellence Framework 2014 (REF) - a full 32 places - with 34% of its research rated as "world-leading" and "internationally excellent." The university focuses on research that can be applied to influence the practice of teachers, health professionals, coaches and managers. World-class research is carried out in history, art and design, health, education, biology, psychology, sport, geography, archaeology and the environment, and English language and literature. Some of the university's strengths are teacher training, early years, sports science (including disability sport), psychology, nursing, midwifery, biology, history, heritage and archaeology, and management and leadership. Many courses offer the opportunity of an internship or an Erasmus exchange in another country.

Key Information

Duration of Study:
3-4 years for Bachelor's programs
1-2 years for Master's programs

Start of the Year:
September and January (January for some programs only)

Application Deadline:
January 15 is the recommended deadline for most programs. The final cutoff is June 30, but those applications will not be given priority.

March 24 for art and design.

There is no deadline for Master's and PhD/doctoral programs, but the university advises applying as early as possible.

Admission Requirements:
A high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 4.0, depending on the program. For Master's and doctoral programs, a Bachelor's or Master's degree, respectively, with a grade of at least 4.0, equivalent to the English Lower Second 2:2, depending on the program.

IELTS
Minimum 6.0 for Bachelor's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 6.0 for Master's programs.

TOEFL
Minimum 87 for Bachelor's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 92 for Master's programs.

Cambridge English: Advanced/Proficiency
Minimum 169 for Bachelor's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 176 for Master's programs.

Scholarships and Loans
Tuition for Bachelor's programs is £9000. The UK government provides student loans with favorable repayment terms. Students only begin repaying the loan once they earn an annual salary of more than £21000. For more information, ask one of our consultants.

Master's programs cost between £5500 and £11750, Executive MBA £12000, MBA £15000 and PhDs £4052. Getting a loan for them is harder, but not impossible.

Accommodation:
University residence halls cost between £2500 and £4000 per year, depending on the hall and room type. Accommodation in a house or apartment that is not part of the university halls costs between £2000 and £3000 per year.
