University of Hertfordshire

The University of Hertfordshire is a modern university with an international outlook on the business world. It was granted university status in 1992. It is currently ranked 75th in the UK and 701st in the QS World University Rankings 2015. Research Excellence Framework 2014 rated 57% of the university's research as "world-leading" and "internationally excellent." The university makes the greatest research contribution in the field of history compared with other British universities. Other areas in which the university is expanding its research are nursing, psychology, philosophy, physics and computer science. The University of Hertfordshire is in the world's top 20 for studying animation. The Careers Center promotes many part-time and volunteering opportunities. Part-time work is available both in the local area and at the university itself. 93% of all UK graduates are in work or further study within 6 months of graduating.

Hatfield is one of the largest towns in the UK. Royalty, nobility, political leaders, German spies, British double agents, aviators, film stars, directors, musicians and authors have all contributed to Hatfield's rich history. The town is located just 20 miles north of London.

Key Information

Duration of Study:
3-4 years for Bachelor's programs
1-2 years for Master's programs

Academic Year:
2 semesters - September and January

Start of the Year:
September and January (January for some programs only)

Application Deadline:
January 15 is the recommended deadline for most programs. The final cutoff is June 30, but those applications will not be given priority.

March 24 for art and design.

There is no deadline for Master's and PhD/doctoral programs, but the university advises applying as early as possible.

Admission Requirements:
A high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 4.0, depending on the program. For Master's and doctoral programs, a Bachelor's or Master's degree, respectively, with a minimum grade of 4.0, depending on the program.

IELTS
Minimum 6.0 for Bachelor's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 6.0 for Master's programs.

TOEFL
Minimum 87 for Bachelor's and Master's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 87 for Master's programs.

Cambridge English: Advanced/Proficiency
Minimum 169 (C) for Bachelor's programs, depending on the program. Minimum 169 (C) for Master's programs.

Scholarships and Loans
Tuition for Bachelor's programs is £9000. The UK government provides student loans with favorable repayment terms. Students only begin repaying the loan once they earn an annual salary of more than £21000. For more information, ask one of our consultants.

Master's and doctoral programs cost between £5750 and £11000, PhDs £4052. Getting a loan for them is harder, but not impossible.

Accommodation:
University residence halls cost between £2,511 and £3,463 per year, depending on the hall and room type. Accommodation in a house or apartment that is not part of the university halls costs between £3,234 and £4,081 per year.
