The Hague University of Applied Sciences

The Hague University of Applied Sciences (HUAS) is a relatively new university, founded in 1987. The university campus is surrounded by water and resembles a city within a city. It ranks 36th in the country. The university follows the motto “Look at the world with open eyes,” and in keeping with it, places itself at the center of society. Its curriculum is designed to prepare students for a confident start in a global society that changes every day. The university offers highly qualified education, combining theory and practice through the work of its research centers. Since 2012, HUAS research has focused on 6 categories – global citizenship, public administration and the urban environment; economics, leadership and entrepreneurship; quality of life; from educational institutions to knowledge institutions; the new world; and technology. The university has a highly international character, welcoming students from 143 countries and maintaining partnerships with companies, public bodies and other organizations at both the regional and international level. This gives students the opportunity to spend half a year or a full year in another country through an Erasmus program, as well as the opportunity for an internship in a given industry. The city of The Hague itself is an international center and hosts many large companies such as Shell, Unilever and DSM, to name just a few. All of them offer internship opportunities to students and take part as guest lecturers at the university.

The Hague is the administrative capital of the Netherlands, located in the south of the country, and is its third largest city. Known as the city of “peace, justice and security,” The Hague is a metropolitan cultural center rich in interesting attractions and monuments – the municipal art museum, the Mauritshuis royal gallery, the Peace Palace and many others. The city hosts a number of music events such as the Parkpop festival, held every year in June. It is the second largest tourist destination after Amsterdam, welcoming about 1.2 million tourists a year, who contribute about €2 billion annually to the country's economy.
