Malmö University

Founded in 1998, Malmö University is one of the largest universities in Sweden, with around 25,000 students. Almost 1,800 international students are currently enrolled at the university.

Malmö University has 5 school and faculty buildings, each of which is multidisciplinary. This means that different disciplines are studied in the same place, each enriching the others. It also means that the courses and programs give students a broader perspective as they prepare for their professional careers.

Malmö is located in the southern part of Sweden, close to Denmark and Copenhagen, with easy access to continental Europe.

Scholarships for International Students:

Studying in Sweden is free for EU students. Other international students have scholarship opportunities.

Malmö University awards scholarships to international students. The Malmö University scholarship is a 25-75% reduction in tuition fees (for non-EU students). Other scholarships are available from the Swedish Institute and the Erasmus Mundus program.

Accommodation

If you intend to study at Malmö University, you should be aware that there is a serious housing shortage in Malmö, especially in student accommodation.

Malmö University does not own any student residence halls and usually does not arrange accommodation for students. However, Malmö University cooperates with two of the largest housing agencies in Malmö to help fee-paying students find accommodation.

The International Office can only help by coordinating contact details for the following types of accommodation:

  • Furnished room with a private bathroom; shared kitchen and lounge area;
  • Furnished studio apartment with its own kitchenette and bathroom;
  • Students also have the option of finding an apartment on their own.

Duration of Study:

  • 3 years for a Bachelor's degree;
  • 1-2 years for a Master's degree.

Admission Requirements:

  • A high school diploma for Bachelor's programs and a completed Bachelor's degree for Master's programs;
  • Application documents must be in English;
  • English language requirements: Cambridge English, IELTS, TOEFL or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).
