Hanze University of Applied Sciences

Hanze University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1986, which makes it an exceptionally young yet modern university. Located in one of the best student cities – Groningen – the university is home to 25,000 students. It has a beautiful green, modern campus with many state-of-the-art facilities. It offers programs taught entirely in English and maintains partnerships with institutions around the world. Hanze University of Applied Sciences has ties with industries and businesses at both the regional and international level. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to study in another country for half a year or a full year as part of an Erasmus program. Education at the university is practice-oriented and offers industry placement opportunities; lectures discuss real-life cases, and the material is closely tied to current methods and theories in the relevant industry. Classes are small and many of the courses are project-based. Students work with tutors who help them with their progress. The university strives to contribute to solving modern social problems such as renewable energy and healthy aging.

The ancient city of Groningen was founded 920 years ago, has a population of 200,000 and is located in the northern Netherlands. As the economic and cultural capital of the region, the city has a lively reputation, yet it retains its calm and safe character. Full of pubs, restaurants, galleries, theaters and museums, Groningen caters to the young population that dominates the city – about 50% of the city's residents are under 35. The city hosts a number of cultural events and festivals, and living there is relatively inexpensive.
