Avans University of Applied Sciences

At Avans, around 20,000 students study 45 different courses that enable them to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers. To achieve this, Avans offers a transparent, diverse and, above all, effective learning and working environment that encourages independent development, knowledge sharing and mutual cooperation.

Avans University cooperates with many different companies and organizations as part of its teaching and research activities.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands is a kingdom. For centuries, the country has been open to the rest of the world. Its cultural diversity has made it a place where knowledge, ideas and cultures from all over the world come together. Although Dutch is the national language, the majority of the population (around 87%) speaks English and one more foreign language.

The Netherlands has a dense rail network that offers frequent service and is the fastest way to travel between city centers. If you live in a city, a bicycle is the cheapest and easiest way to get around. Most Dutch people, regardless of their profession or status, own a bicycle.

Scholarships

The university recruits talented and excellent students. Since September 1, 2009, the university has offered scholarships to the best-performing international students.

Information on how and where to apply for a scholarship can be found from "NUFFIC" or the "Netherlands Student Grantfinder," which provides information on the various Dutch scholarships for international students.

Accommodation

The university does not have a campus, so students live in the cities of Breda, 's-Hertogenbosch or Tilburg. The commute to Avans takes about 10-20 minutes. Cycling around the city is also very common.

Each apartment houses 2-3 students. Every student has a private room with a shared kitchen, bathroom, toilet and sometimes a living room. There is a washing machine in every apartment, and every room is furnished.
