To Alaska and Back

Hello, my name is Graziela and I'll tell you the story of my trip to Alaska, America.

It all started at the beginning of 2014, when I decided to go on a summer job in America. It was my first summer job in America, and I really wanted to visit Alaska. I went to the agency, we did all the paperwork, I got my visa and left – everything was that easy.

After I arrived, I started working as a housekeeper. The hotel was located in Denali National Park, Alaska. That made the work even more interesting and exciting, because on the very first day we had a visit from a bear – of course, it was just passing through. The fact is that you can see various animals while you work. A week after I started work, a cute little squirrel was stealing the soaps from my cart. On my way home from work or back, I would see moose – extremely beautiful animals.

The first snow came in August, but it's not a problem because it doesn't last long. That's when you can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, which is what I did. At the beginning of September you can enjoy the Northern Lights – an extraordinary sight that is well worth seeing.

After Alaska, a friend and I decided to visit New York. Everything went according to the plan we had made before our little trip. We got around with a paper map – you don't need to use the internet or a phone. We toured the city's landmarks – the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and many other places. We saw the fast-paced way of life in New York. And then we headed to Paris, France.

In Paris we again got around with a paper map; we followed it and made it to the Louvre – a wonderful place full of history and art. The charming, sweet little streets of Paris – a pleasure to stroll along.

I recommend that you carry a paper map. You never know when it might come in handy.

Overall, it's worth signing up for the Work and Travel program, because you discover new places and get to know different cultures. You learn how to handle different situations on your own, and you gain a wealth of new knowledge and skills.
