This year I once again decided to go on a summer job in the USA. This is my third time taking part in the Work and Travel USA program, and I think it was the best decision I have ever made. I can advise all first-year students and everyone else who is still hesitating about whether to go that this is an opportunity not to be missed.
When I went for the first time I was nineteen years old, very unsure of myself and even a little scared. America was a dream for me. I had built my image of this country mainly from American movies. Well, it's very different. Much more exciting and magnetic. Only people who have been there can understand what I mean. My life there is different. Everything happens unplanned and you live in the moment. I'm grateful that I didn't have mobile internet, so I could enjoy every moment and talk with people face to face. People there are much more open and give you the chance to fit in in no time.
Personally, I believe that a summer job in America enriches you both culturally and financially. Now, after my third summer in the USA, I can say that these were some of the most educational moments of my life. I can say that in 4 months I learned as much as in 12 years of school. The difference is that these things aren't in textbooks. They are learned through practice. Spending my summer there, I got to know myself, discovered things that excite me and that I enjoy doing, and met exceptional people who later became my close friends. I also learned that if you make an effort, success soon follows. I became more ambitious and self-confident. I know that anything is possible as long as you want it badly and strive to achieve it. I am more than happy that I worked, lived and traveled in the land of unlimited opportunities
