For a long time I hesitated about whether to spend a summer working in what seemed to me to be faraway America, but I quickly made up my mind, successfully got my visa, and the time came to leave. I packed my bags, caught the plane, and my first stop was Chicago. I had the chance to spend three days there and explore the city thoroughly. You can imagine how dazzled I was, since this was my first time in the States. I was very happy with my sightseeing. I visited the zoo as well as the tallest building in Chicago, and I also saw the famous "Bean". It was fun and exhausting, since we walked 10 hours a day wanting to see more and more.
The time came to head to the place where we would spend the whole summer working. It is located on the shore of Lake Michigan and is a favorite resort for wealthy people from Chicago and the surrounding area. The town is called Sister Bay. I can say that I saw some of the most beautiful sunsets of my life there. A magical place with a beach, groves, lots of little restaurants, shops and small hotels.
The place where I worked was the local Yacht Club. We worked as housekeepers, and from time to time they put one of us at the front desk. The owners and managers had provided us with free accommodation. Each of us had our own room, as well as a shared area with a kitchen and a large living room. The work wasn't hard, but there were still tiring days.
Before long I got a second job, again as a housekeeper, and there too I met positive and kind people. That's how the whole summer of 2015 went by – working and having fun with the friends I met, with whom I still keep in touch today. I was extremely happy. After I returned to Bulgaria, I decided that I had to embark on this adventure called "Work and Travel" once more.
