Is a Summer Job in America Worth It?

Many young people in Bulgaria are often confused and torn about what to do with their future, and they don't have a clear idea of what to do while studying or afterwards. They often ask themselves questions like: Do I need to start working now, while I'm studying? Should I rely entirely on my family to support me financially? Should I be more independent?... and a bunch of other questions. And if we think about it, we will realize that working while studying has many positive sides, as long as it doesn't interfere with our studies. That's why a student summer job in America – which you can only do while you're a student and which takes place during the summer vacation – is something every student should do at least once during their student years.

What is it? Is it worth going?

Summer jobs in America are an opportunity and a way to meet new people and learn many new things. It is an initiative that anyone who wants to learn about and get to know a larger part of the world would do well to take. A student summer job is a chance for a new beginning, a new adventure, a new ME! The Work and Travel in USA program has many advantages. The experience itself, the friendships you make, the things you see and the confidence that you can manage even without your parents' help – all of this leaves a deep and lasting memory in your life.

I'm also one of those confused students who don't know what to do in the future, but I know one thing for sure – I want to visit America! I want to experience everything the Work and Travel program has to offer. For me, it will be a huge opportunity to change the way I think and see the world and the people in it. I have a sister who went to America on this very program, and she has told me about what she saw and experienced. She has even said more than once that if she could, she would turn back time to live this adventure again. For her it was a challenge that left a lasting memory and had an enormous influence on her life. By getting to know the people she worked with and the traditions and culture of American society, she formed her own view of America. She also met many students from other countries taking part in the same Work and Travel program and made friendships she keeps to this day. Experiences, places and sights she will never forget.

I saw America through her eyes. And now that I'm a student too, my time has come to go, see and make "MY AMERICAN DREAM" come true.
