Hawaii in Alaska

Imagine you are in the northernmost state – Alaska. Now imagine Hawaii!.... The first thought that might come to mind is:
"What could Alaska possibly have in common with Hawaii? Hot and cold?!"
Well.. They do have something in common! A town where high mountains meet the blue ocean. The town is called Seward, and it lies in the heart of one of the most beautiful, wild and untouched national parks – Kenai Fjords National Park. The park has more than 40 glaciers, some of which can be visited on cruise boats or by hiking along trails that lead to them. Both options offer incredible views and encounters with animals in their natural habitat – whales, orcas, seals, bears, moose, eagles and much more of the diverse wildlife. Besides these pleasant encounters, you can also enjoy the wild blueberries, which are HUGE there and incredibly delicious.

So, getting back to Seward… Wherever you turn, you see green peaks, waterfalls and glaciers. The town is one of the oldest in the state of Alaska. Locals say that the northernmost state begins right in this town. Seward offers its visitors all kinds of activities. You can start at the beach and make your way to the glacial lakes, from fast-food places to luxury restaurants, but most importantly, wherever you are in town, the view is indescribable.

In summer the town is full of students from all over the world on the "Work and Travel" program. They are offered jobs as housekeepers, cooks, servers and sales associates in all kinds of shops for clothes, souvenirs, jewelry and more. Many young people choose to do their student summer job there precisely because the pay is good and the place is perfect for an unforgettable summer.
The locals are friendly and welcoming. Many of them make a living from fishing, and some are park rangers or offer extreme activities such as helicopter trips to the glaciers, dog sledding, whale or bear watching, kayaking among the ice in the ocean, ziplining in the forest and more – as long as you have the nerve, of course.
