Summer 2017 is one of my best experiences, when I finally plucked up the courage and embarked on the Work and Travel adventure in America – great emotions, new friends and unforgettable moments. Right after the visa interview I already knew an unforgettable summer was ahead.
It all started when I landed in Miami, and the student summer job kicked off at full speed – life in America really doesn't stop or wait. I had the chance to work with a great team, and believe me, nothing is more important than that. Even in the busiest moments, great friendships were born, which I still keep up to this day. The work in the kitchen went by quickly and was very dynamic, while my second job, at the shopping mall, was even more fun – the candy and popcorn shop was my favorite place. There I had the chance to connect with people, communicate freely with them and meet visitors from every state in the country.
The student summer job gave me emotions that a simple visit to the USA could not. In four months I managed to get to know the country's culture and its people, and also, on the other hand, myself. For me it was also a test – of independence, taking responsibility and gaining experience.
And the best part was the travel, when I managed to see so many things I hadn't had the chance to see before – I went from the southernmost point of the country to the northernmost, starting in Miami, where I fell in love with the incredible white beaches as soon as I landed. From there I made it to New York, which really must be seen at least once in a lifetime, with its iconic skyscrapers. The next stop was Washington, home to the most important government buildings in the country, and then Philadelphia. Last but not least, I made it to Niagara Falls – a truly breathtaking sight on the border between the USA and Canada.
It's exactly these experiences that will leave memories for a lifetime. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to take part in the program, because you can't get enough of America in just one summer !
