An Unforgettable Summer, Long Nights, Warm Days and Beautiful Sunrises in (Not So) Faraway America

I decided spontaneously – I was on my way home from university, a total newbie, a first-year student. And I said to myself: "I can't wait until next summer to go on a student summer job! This has to be it! I have to see the USA as soon as possible!" And I realized on the very day I signed my contract: 'This was my best, most right and most heartfelt wish!'

I arrived in America, but thanks to the adrenaline and emotions, even the long journey to faraway America seemed short and close! I worked in a small town with lots of tourists – Corolla, North Carolina. At a supermarket, with Bulgarians, Romanians, Moldovans and Serbians. WOW! I met so many people! I worked a lot, slept little and had loads of fun!

I could never forget the sunrise! The sunrise there is unique! On the East Coast of America. A long island strip and a small resort town. Corolla, I fell in love with you!

The best thing about the coast of the States is the sunrises! Our house overlooked the endless ocean and offered us a breathtaking view. After the longest shifts, after the most exhausting days and after the craziest parties, my new friends and I would go to the beach and watch the sunrise. We didn't sleep – we talked and discussed how, far away in the distance, thousands of miles from here, was Bulgaria! You recharge with energy, with the first rays of sunshine, with positive people and optimistic thoughts, and only then do you go to work – well, if that isn't the perfect summer, what is!

During the most fun and unforgettable summer for all of us, it became our tradition: "Come on, let's go watch the sunrise!" No one could say no to that offer. Tiredness seemed to vanish there, sinking into the deep ocean. We worked eagerly, with lots of positivity, with very good American managers who enjoyed our adventurous spirit; who praised us every day for a job well done; who were delighted by our never-ending smiles; and who saw us off with a touch of sadness and a great wish for us to come back.

And I dare say: "That was the best summer of my life!" Emotions, friends, money saved, unforgettable sunrises, dream destinations visited, experience gained and more and more – that's just a little of what America can give you!

"Travel and Work", as I call it (rather than "Work and Travel"), is an emotion everyone should experience! And I am convinced that everyone will be enchanted by the land of unlimited opportunities!
