A Journey Through Europe

Hello, travelers!

Since I love to travel, I decided to tell you about an unforgettable trip to Belgium, Europe. I was there for a week visiting relatives.

The city where they live is Ghent. A small, beautiful and peaceful place, not far from the country's capital, Brussels.

On the first day after I arrived, they showed me around the town. It was extremely interesting for me, since this was my first trip in Europe, and since I had been to the States, it was interesting to compare the two continents. Everything is very different both from there and from Bulgaria. The buildings are old, some restored, others not. Most people get around by bike, which is why the environment is very clean and well preserved, unlike many other places. We spent the whole day strolling through the town's little streets, browsing the shops in the center, and in the evening we sat down at one of the most famous restaurants in town, where you can't go without a reservation. The restaurant itself wasn't anything special – located in an old house around 150 years old – but it was famous for its divine pork ribs. It really was incredibly delicious; I recommend that anyone who visits Ghent stop by!

Everyone knows that Belgium is famous for its architecture, art, beer and, of course, chocolate! At every step there were chocolate shops, and the chocolates tasted incredible – definitely the most delicious chocolate I have ever tasted!

We visited several cathedrals, which are huge and majestic on the outside and beautifully painted on the inside. We also took photos next to one of the most famous museums in Ghent, which in the past was one of the cruelest prisons there.

Besides the charming town of Ghent, I also visited the country's capital, Brussels. There we visited some famous landmarks, such as the Grand Place in the center, which is full of cathedrals, the so-called Atomium, the European Parliament, the Palace of Justice and others.

During the week we set aside two days to visit two other countries, since they are relatively close to Belgium.

Paris, France was one of the top destinations I had dreamed of visiting. And so this dream came true too. We were there for only a day, but I managed to see some of the most famous places. Naturally, the Eiffel Tower was the first of them. So big and beautiful – at the entrance there was a mile-long line of people waiting to go up to the top. I didn't make it, but it was amazing just to look at it from below. We walked in the park around the tower, and unfortunately I only managed to see the Louvre from a distance. Honestly, I liked Belgium more than Paris, but I'm happy I got to visit it.

On the second-to-last day we also visited the Netherlands, more precisely one of the most famous gardens there – "Keukenhof", also called the Garden of Europe. It is called that because it is one of the largest spring flower gardens not only on the Old Continent but in the world! Full of tulips – extraordinary beauty! Every year in September, about 7 million bulbs are planted there! It is just 20 kilometers from the country's capital, Amsterdam, but unfortunately exploring the garden took us a whole day and we didn't have time to visit the city. Well, I hope that will happen soon too!

That, in short, was my journey through Europe – it was exciting and memorable. Of course, I dream of many more destinations, which I hope I'll be able to tell you about soon, because to travel is to live!
