After their summer work program, most people dream of taking a cruise to the Bahamas, visiting the casinos of Las Vegas or spending their earnings on an exotic trip. But for those of you who are adventurous and want to visit as many places in the USA as possible, there's a map that tells you exactly where to go.
The map was created by Randy Olson with help from Tracy Staedter and shows 50 major national landmarks, historic sites, national parks and national monuments. If you follow the route on the map, you'll be able to visit the 48 contiguous states without leaving the country.
If you really plan to take this trip, you should know that you'll cover 13,699 miles, or 224 hours of driving. If you plan to do the trip in one go, it will take you about 9.33 days, although Olson believes it will actually take about 2-3 months.
If, however, you'd rather visit more cities than national parks or, say, Mount Rushmore, Olson has created a similar map that prioritizes the most recommended cities. This trip is only 12,290 miles, but it excludes cities in North Dakota, Vermont and West Virginia, since he believes there isn't much to see in those states.
It looks tough on the map, but you can set off on the adventure with the friends you've made during the Work and Travel program.
