The Grand Canyon – the Pride of Arizona

You know how much we love introducing you to the beautiful places you'll have the chance to visit during or after your summer work program. Well, today we decided it would be the Grand Canyon.

The Great Canyon (better known as the Grand Canyon) lies on the Colorado River in the state of Arizona and is part of Grand Canyon National Park. Historically, the canyon formed over 10 million years, taking on ever more beautiful and majestic shapes and formations. This is what leads archaeologists to claim that the great canyon holds traces of 4 eras, during which the Colorado River carved its way through the rocks, while erosion and the shifting of rock layers formed a deep chasm with many beautiful natural vistas. Today this is the Grand Canyon phenomenon that all Americans are proud of and that millions of tourists from around the world dream of visiting.

Everyone who has experienced the grandeur of the Grand Canyon leaves a piece of their soul there. The view is so captivating that it makes visitors hold their breath before this unique creation of nature. Besides the beautiful rock formations, the canyon is also home to amazing representatives of the animal kingdom (mountain lion, coyote, bobcat, California condor) and plant life (various species of cacti, agaves and yuccas), which tourists can spot tucked away among the rocks.

The best time to visit the canyon is in the summer or early fall, although according to the locals it is most beautiful in winter. So when your summer work program is drawing to a close, you can start planning your trip to the Grand Canyon, when the crowds of tourists will also be thinner.

The beautiful views are only part of the adventure called "the Grand Canyon." There are helicopter or small-plane flights over the canyon, rafting on the Colorado River, as well as mule rides and organized tours for visitors. And the newest tourist attraction is the Skywalk, a huge glass terrace that extends more than 20 meters out from the edge of the canyon. The floor of this incredible structure is made of special glass so that tourists can take in the entire surrounding landscape.

In conclusion, if there's one place we're sure everyone should visit in their lifetime, it's undoubtedly the Grand Canyon. We at NGB wish you the chance to do so and look forward to hearing about your Work and Travel adventure!
