If you're already worried about your visa interview, then congratulations!
You're on the home stretch to an unforgettable summer!
We've all heard that to set foot on American soil, you first have to charm the consular officers at the U.S. Embassy. Especially for you, we've decided to debunk a few myths about the notorious visa interview.
- The interview lasts forever
One of the most widespread legends about the visa interview is that it lasts forever. It doesn't – quite the opposite! If you're traveling to Sofia specifically for the interview, believe us, you'll have time left for a walk in the Simeonovo Garden. In fact, the most time-consuming part of the whole process is the security check, which happens right at the start.
- They pick you apart down to the bone
Thousands of questions from the consul that you worry you won't be able to answer... Well, this can be called a false rumor too. True, there are questions, but they're neither complicated nor are the answers hidden in the depths of your mind.
- They take your blood, DNA, etc.
This is perhaps the most exaggerated myth of all. The only thing the embassy asks of you is your fingerprints, which you give right there on the spot.
- Forget about a visa for a summer work program if you're a first-year or final-year student.
Supposedly the consuls frown upon first-year or graduating students. This, like the other myths listed so far, isn't true. What matters to the consuls is that you are a full-time student – passing your exams, under 27 years old and ready to get to know a different culture!
- They'll be hard to impress if you're going for a second time
Once you go to America, it's hard not to go again! So don't worry and sign up for Work and Travel again! The consuls will be glad that you liked their country so much.
There are many myths and legends about the visa interview, but in fact all you need for this stage of your summer program is a smile, motivation and the right job offer, which NGB Consulting is ready to find for you!
