How to Use Google Maps Without an Internet Connection

If you have a student summer job, a business trip or simply a vacation ahead of you, it's good to know the following simple trick.

How can you use Google Maps to find nearby places and navigate without an internet connection?

Losing your internet connection, or not having one at all, is a common problem abroad. In today's fast-paced world we often don't have time to check exactly where we're going, and we rely entirely on modern technology. You could easily say that the whole world fits in our pocket, but it's good to know that we can't always rely on it.

Everyone has gotten lost at some point and been unable to reach their destination, and we often turn to our beloved smartphone. It's good to know that not everywhere abroad can we count on an internet connection and good speed.

A few simple steps can give you peace of mind and security on your next trip:

1. Open 'Google Maps', which can be used 'offline'.
2. Find the city you will be visiting.
3. Tap the profile icon located right next to the search bar. Scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will find the "Offline Maps" section.
You have two ways to save a specific section of the map for offline use. The first is through the section in the settings menu, or by typing "OK Maps" in the search bar at any time while viewing the map. You can use the map to locate where you are, see what is around you, or even set a destination you want to reach and use navigation without any internet or mobile connection.
