Students from all over the world come to improve their English, make new friends and get to know the city and American culture, under the constant guidance of the language school's staff. The Youth Adventure Program is a combination of language courses, leisure activities and excursions to New York, accompanied at all times by teachers from Sol Camps New York.
Fordham University's campus is a very pleasant place - full of greenery and places to walk, just 25 min from the center of Manhattan.
Safety is one of the most important things for the center: security is 24/7, and young people can enjoy constant care and support from the language center's staff.
The course includes:
- 15 hours of English per week, study materials, tests and certificate;
- 5 half-day excursions and 2 full-day excursions per week, with transport and attraction entrance fees included;
- 24/7 contact with a language center representative;
- internet access;
- full-board accommodation on the university campus.
Sample daily schedule at the center:
- 9 a.m.–12:45 p.m. English with a 15-min break every hour;
- 1–2 p.m. lunch;
- 2–6 p.m. afternoon excursion to New York;
- 6–7 p.m. dinner;
- 7–9 p.m. evening activities;
- 11 p.m. quiet time and lights out.
Classes are held entirely and exclusively in English, and teachers emphasize interactivity in the learning process – games, topics on American culture and topics related to each participant's interests.
Each class has a maximum of 15 people from around the world, with opportunities to build on what is learned in class. Additional activities are tailored to the participants' age group and interests, with excursions every afternoon.
Accommodation:
- double rooms with private bathroom;
- air conditioning in every room;
- wireless internet;
- laundry rooms;
- boys and girls are on separate floors;
- they are given ID cards with a number they can call at any time to reach one of the center's staff.
Participants do not leave the campus without their leader or another Sol Campus representative.
During the week, young people eat in the dining hall or have dinner at a restaurant in New York, while on weekends they may have packed lunches, as the excursions are full-day. All meals are included, and options include pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, hot dishes and much more. The dining hall can accommodate dietary preferences, which must be communicated in advance.
