Every year, applicants from over 30 different countries take part in Oxford International's summer language courses. This cultural diversity is an amazing opportunity for participants to communicate and practice English in a real-life environment. The summer programs are extremely varied and fun; lifelong friendships are made, exciting moments are shared, and all of this becomes a treasured memory combined with highly professional language tuition. Oxford International offers its summer programs at 13 schools in different parts of the UK. One of them is Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a historic and cultural center. The city impresses with its rich architecture, authentic palaces and medieval cathedrals. Heriot-Watt University is considered one of the best universities in Edinburgh, with modern facilities and buildings. It is surrounded by wide green meadows while being conveniently located near the city center. Heriot-Watt was founded in 1921 as the world's first mechanics' institute.
The summer language program is suitable for children aged 10 to 17. It starts on July 3 and ends on August 14.
The course aims to encourage fluent use of English in a real-life environment. While studying the main components of the language, students constantly practice it in their daily lives, which helps them learn it even better. All levels can be studied – from beginner to advanced. At the start of the program, students take a test to assess their level and are placed in the appropriate group. The course includes 15 hours of tuition per week + a group project related to English history and culture. In this way, students practice their presentation skills and imagination and learn a lot about the country and its traditions. At the end of the course, every participant receives a certificate of successful completion.
