SPORTS ACADEMY AT LEICESTER UNIVERSITY
Anglophiles Academic is a language center that offers summer camps and language courses abroad. It has been on the market for almost 40 years, organizing English language courses in the UK, France, Ireland, the USA, Canada, China and other countries. Its mission is to provide high-quality teaching and valuable experience for young people – to introduce them to new challenges and enrich their lives with emotion and enjoyment.
Leicester University Sports Academy is a mix of English, a choice of sports for participants to specialize in, leisure activities and excursions, and it runs only in July and August. Leicester University is one of the leading British universities, located in the East Midlands, 100 miles north of London. The university has well-equipped facilities, including pitches and courts for football, rugby, cricket, tennis, basketball and volleyball, a running track, a gym and a dance studio, and there is a swimming pool nearby. The program offers a mix of English and sports:
- English & Rugby Academy – physical conditioning, techniques, tactics, and building strength and speed.
- English & Football Academy – improving individual and team skills. Developing passing, feinting, defending, attacking, ball control techniques and more.
- English & Tennis Academy – physical and mental preparation. Perfecting strokes – backhand and forehand, serving, using the ball's trajectory and more.
Training for all three sports takes place in small groups under the guidance of specialized coaches.
The English course includes 27 hours for a two-week stay and 36 for a three-week stay. Students' level is assessed with a test on the first day, after which they are placed in groups of 12-16 people. The teacher adapts the materials and teaching techniques to the individual needs of each group. The course includes studying articles, role plays, games, discussions, the use of idioms, and learning grammar and vocabulary related to the sports the students take part in. Special emphasis is placed on speaking and listening. The center's goal is to make everyday communication in English effective. Study materials are provided, as is local transportation.
Students will live on the university campus, with breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.
There is one excursion each to London and Oxford every week.
