International Summer Camp in Italy

Alphabet Junior Discovery offers endless adventures from the Anglo-American world among students from many cultures. The camp is designed specifically for children aged 6 to 12. Thanks to its wide mix of nationalities, Alphabet Junior Discovery is the only international summer camp in the heart of Italy.

The camp is run entirely in English. The staff are highly qualified and lead educational activities from morning to evening. Students take part in the activities, constantly discovering new games, friends, food, sports and adventures – all in the gorgeous setting of Central Italy.

Location and accommodation:

The camps are located in Central Italy in the beautiful region of Umbria – about a 1.5-hour drive from Rome. During the year, all locations are used for agritourism, and staff and students enjoy local honey, jam, eggs and beautiful scenery.

The rooms are charming, have all the basic modern amenities and come with private bathrooms. For safety reasons the rooms are not locked, and counselors sleep in adjacent rooms, no more than a few steps away. Rooms accommodate 2 to 4 children, with girls and boys housed separately.

  • Agrincontri, Todi

The property is located in the heart of a 200-hectare nature reserve and is centered around a historic farmhouse dating back to the early 1700s. It has 12 rooms, a large dining room, an original wood-fired oven and a classroom with a fireplace. In addition, there is a grass sports field, a beautiful swimming pool, a vegetable garden, and wide open spaces with woodland and a small lake.

  • Casal Cerqueto, Ripabianca

The main house is a stone building from the 1600s, while the residences and cafe were recently built in classic country style. The property has 18 rooms, a beautiful dining room with a veranda, a large classroom with many activities, a large garden, a sports field and a gorgeous swimming pool, all surrounded by an ancient olive grove.

Academic program:

All campers take part in an 18-hour weekly program and can choose between an English course or a Cultural program. Both courses are engaging, communicative and complement the camp so as to build confidence in young learners. Parents also receive feedback on their children's knowledge and participation in the activities through a report at the end of the week.

  • English course:

Suitable for children who want to improve their language skills. On arrival, students take a test to determine their English level and are placed accordingly in groups of 4 to 6. Levels are aligned with the Common European Framework, and the curriculum, based on Cambridge ESOL, focuses on improving speaking, listening, reading and writing.

  • Cultural Discovery:

The course is perfect for English speakers and for those who are confident enough in their English skills. Children who choose the cultural program can learn about the history of the Etruscans, dig for archaeological finds or explore Italian mythology.

Sports and activities:

Grouped into teams, campers compete in various adventurous weekly tournaments. Each game earns points that add up to determine the overall winner – soccer, softball, basketball, theater, pool games, treasure hunts, tug of war, relay races, movie night, campfire, karaoke and much more. Students staying at the camp for two weeks or more can choose to go on a day trip to Rome or Florence.

Safety and comfort:

The camp provides everything needed for comfort and safety, allowing campers to enjoy a wonderful adventure while feeling completely at ease. The student-to-counselor ratio is 5:1, which ensures that all children are constantly supervised and safe at all times. For students traveling alone, transfers from and to the airport or train station are available.
