Alphabet City is a unique urban experience in one of the most exciting and culturally rich cities in the world. The program takes students aged 13 to 17 on a journey through Rome – from its most famous landmarks to its best-kept secrets.
Students study a foreign language (English or Italian) and learn about Rome's historical and cultural heritage while living like their Roman peers. Every day is full of adventure and discovery as they stroll through the center, gaze through the "Eye of the Pantheon", shop around the Spanish Steps and eat local street food in Testaccio.
Language and learning:
Rome, considered the seat of Western civilization, has over time made significant contributions to philosophy, law, art, science and fashion, making it a "fountain of knowledge". It enriches the program and stimulates learning and creativity in students. The program is run entirely in English, and the daily schedule is divided into three sections: academic, cultural and social.
Academic program:
It is divided into two segments: language study and cultural education. Students choose between English or Italian tuition and study in 10-hour weekly courses. A test is held after arrival to assess language level and ensure correct placement in small, dynamic groups.
Immediately after the language classes, students gather for cultural education lessons, which complement the program and aim to put culture on the agenda – from ancient history to modern Roman life.
Cultural activities:
Every afternoon, students set out to discover Rome's architectural, cultural and historical treasures. Guided around the city in a group, everyone can visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, make fresh pasta in a cooking class, enjoy the splendor of the city of Caravaggio and Michelangelo, or play sports in Villa Borghese.
Social program:
In the evenings, students continue to explore the Roman way of life. They try authentic pizza or classic pasta recipes such as "cacio e pepe" (cheese and pepper), combined with night walks to the Trevi Fountain, a visit to Castel Sant'Angelo, live music along the Tiber River or gelato in the picturesque Trastevere neighborhood.
Location and facilities:
The school is located in the center of Rome, just a few minutes from St. Peter's Basilica and the Spanish Steps. All classrooms are new, with a modern and stimulating design, equipped with the latest audiovisual devices, high-speed internet and everything needed for the most effective learning.
The student residences are a few minutes away and have also been recently renovated.
