Bucky Adventure – Plumpton College

A summer language camp combined with plenty of adventures and exciting experiences such as mountain hikes, kayaking, cycling and much more. The course is open to applicants aged 13 to 16, regardless of their level of English (instruction is offered at all levels).

The language instruction combines key grammar components, a wide range of vocabulary, discussions, presentations and many other interactive tasks. Students learn to communicate in a real-life environment, receive excellent preparation for various exams, and at the end of the program they sit for a Bucksmore certificate, which will help them in their future development.

The two-week program includes 6 exciting experiences for participants to enjoy. No previous experience is required – students will be accompanied and instructed by specialists. Here are the included activities:

- Cycling – the stunning South Downs hills are the perfect place for truly thrilling cycling;

- Rafting and kayaking – on Ardingly Reservoir participants will learn to build their own rafts and paddle downstream in a kayak;

- Mountain Boarding – so-called mountain boards (which look like skateboards but have pneumatic tires) can be ridden on a variety of terrain: mountain slopes, wide meadows and more;

- Horseback riding and climbing – horseback riding will undoubtedly be a real adventure for participants, especially if it is their first time. For the adventurous, there is a purpose-built wall where they can turn into real climbers;

- Sailing – again on beautiful Ardingly Reservoir. There participants will learn sailing techniques with special boats and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature;

- "Overnight survival" – overnight camps have always been a favorite with children. An evening tent camp is organized and participants will have to take on the role of survivors. They will learn how to light a campfire, build a shelter and more.

The language instruction combines the core components of the language: listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking. There are discussions, projects that are presented to an audience, and writing on various topics. All of this aims to develop as many skills as possible in students – to speak the language fluently, write correctly and behave appropriately when communicating with others.

Excursions and tours are organized for both leisure and educational purposes. Students will have the chance to see the sights of London and Brighton and visit famous local amusement parks such as Thorpe Park. Throughout the program, a wide variety of fun events take place: sports tournaments, art projects, competitions and more.
