The course combines English language tuition with a programming course for children aged 13 to 16. It runs alongside the Bucksmore Summer course and includes 7.5 hours of programming in a modern computer center.
The program is the perfect combination of professional language tuition and a course in programming and the overall functioning of software systems and technologies. It also covers the vocabulary needed in the field of computer science, which is a great advantage for students who want to develop in this area in the future.
For the programming classes, students are provided with innovative Raspberry Pi computers. These are credit-card-sized single-board computers created to promote basic computer science education in schools. At the end of the program, every participant will receive their own Raspberry Pi computer. The language tuition combines the core components of the language: listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking. There are discussions, projects presented to an audience, and texts written on various topics. All of this aims to develop as many skills as possible in students – to speak the language fluently, write correctly and behave appropriately when communicating with other people.
Excursions and tours are organized for both leisure and educational purposes. Students will have the chance to see the sights of London and Brighton and visit famous local amusement parks such as Thorpe Park. Throughout the program there are all kinds of fun events: sports tournaments, art projects, competitions and more.
The program fee is £1160 per week. It includes:
- Welcome and orientation on arrival;
- A one-week language course (15 hours of language tuition + 7.5 hours of programming) + study materials;
- A Raspberry Pi computer;
- Excursions and entertainment;
- Study bags, participant card and participant wristband;
- A certificate of participation at the end of the program.
Accommodation is also included in the program price:
- Airport pick-up and transfer;
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner;
- Insurance;
- Laundry;
- Internet.
The only thing not included in the price is pocket money.
